As the Springtime conditions continue in February, the desire from anglers to get a line wet has exploded!
Arrowrock Reservoir continues to be the destination of choice this past week. The success rate for Kokanee has slowed down some with the added pressure from anglers. Arrowrock Reservoir confluence of the Southfork and Middlefork seems to be seeing most of the pressure. A few reports, including my own on Sunday, confirmed the angler pressure with a slower hit rate than the past few weeks.
Kokanee are still out there, but the trout seem to be on the end of most lines. Kokanee are being targeted and picked up from the surface to 10 ft. down.
The color(s) of choice this past week is pink. A pink Kokabow Osprey Spinner or Squid tipped with NW Rod Bender Corn and a Kokabow Wildberry, Pink Ice, or Wild Berry Dodger was the ticket on the surface. Get your line out behind the boat 60-75ft with a 1/2 oz trolling sinker, or no weight at all.
If targeting the 10ft range, green, red, or purple brought in most of action! A Kokabow Screamin' Green Spinner, Kingfisher Spinner or Squid, an Eagle Squid, and a Merlin Spinner or Squid proved effective. Troll those behind a Kokabow Riddler, Greenback, Galaxy, or Aurora Dodger with a 14-16 leader. Try varying your speed from 1.2-1.6 mph. Again, find the sunny side of the reservoir.
The road is a bit rough....It's the Arrowrock Road!!
Lucky Peak has had some good reports this week. The Kokanee are ranging around 14-16 inches in length!
Some anglers are having good luck in the Mack's Creek area of the reservoir. Also, a few larger Landlocked Chinook have ended up on angler lines making for a spectacular fight!!
Pink seems to be the color of choice right now, but don't forget about orange....It's Lucky Peak.
Kokabow Wildberry, and Galaxy Dodgers with an Osprey Squid, or Ravisher Spinner has been working well this week. Like the past few weeks, the fish are from surface to 15 ft. down. Get the line out behind the boat 60-75 ft. and troll at 1.2-1.6 mph. Search both sides of the reservoir for the Kokes. It's hard to say which side they'll be on. Remember..if you get into the Landlocked Chinook, they're part of your trout limit.
Anderson Reservoir fishing this past week was interesting to say the least. Some anglers have reported good numbers of 14 inch kokanee being caught near the dam.
Kokabow Pro Staffers reported this past weekend of "high" catch rates on Landlocked Chinook, with a few Kokanee mixed in. Chinook size ranged from 14-16 inches with Kokanee ranging from 12-14 inches.
Most fish seem to be from the Anderson Dam to Fall Creek. Like the other reservoirs, the fish are on the surface to 15 ft. down.
Pink and Purple was the color of choice for both the Chinook and the Kokanee.
A Kokabow Pink Ice, Wildberry, and Tickled Pink Dodger with an Osprey Spinner or Squid, and a Merlin Squid brought in most of the action.
NW Rodbender Bloody Tuna Corn was the bait and scent of choice.
1.2-1.6 mph, with the long lines out 75 ft. brought in a ton of action.
Watch for a few Bull Trout hanging around. Catch and release only on them!!
Keep the lines tight and wet!
